We have been quite busy the last month, but especially because we have been seeking an OB/GYN to deliver our little girl in December. We had a doctor as of several weeks ago, but we found out from Becky's Hematologist that it would be best if she delivered in a hospital with an ICU. We had planned to deliver the baby in the larger city of Goiânia, a solid 45 minute drive from here. But that doctor does not deliver in hospitals with ICU's. Therefore, we had to start the doctor search all over again, with Becky well past the 30 week mark. What we found was that no doctors wanted to take on a high-risk pregnancy in the last trimester. This was really beginning to drain us emotionally, physically, and spiritually. So two weeks ago, I, Ben, stayed home from morning church specifically to spend time in the Word and pray, asking the Lord for a doctor. I said "Lord, we really need a doctor, now. You know how important this is for our little girl's delivery, for Becky, for our...

In our weakness He is strong

There is no other way around it. Without Christ, we would be overwhelmed. As things stand, we are indeed stressed, and worn. However, this makes for great opportunities to trust in the Lord and lean on His strength. Thank you for praying for us during these months on medical leave, and for continuing to partner with us. As you recall, Samuel spent two separate occasions in the hospital with pneumonia for a total of 10 days. We can now say that the pneumonia is completely gone. However, Samuel was back to the ER with croupe a few weeks ago. Thankfully, he did not have to stay the night. They are getting to know us at the hospital. Then, a little over three weeks ago, we were playing racquetball with Ben's brothers and sisters-in-laws, and Becky landed awkwardly after a jump and tore her ACL in her left knee. She will need surgery—on March 15th, then months of physical therapy. Ben's Meniere's Disease also kicked in two weeks ago and he was out of commission for a whole...

Trials...?

For the last week and a half, we've had Samuel in the hospital with pneumonia. He actually was discharged on Thursday last week, then went back in on Saturday night... Seems this pneumonia is wreaking havoc inside his body, and they can't figure out what's really going on. They have him on two antibiotics now...but his fever is playing games with his body it seems... He'll be fine and dandy for about 24 hours, then it'll spike again... Then it'll go down, etc... Anyhow, we'd appreciate your prayers for his healing, and for Becky and I and the other two boys--we're tired of hospital days and nights, driving back and for the the hospital in the morning, afternoon and evening...gets draining after a while, ya know? However, tonight I'm at home with Caleb & David while Becky spends the night at the hospital with Samuel... Meanwhile, I'm at home and was singing some hymns to Caleb as he fell asleep. One that I sang was "How Firm a Foundatio...
