Test yourself...are you going the way of the world?

In 2 Corinthians 13:5 Paul tells us to “test ourselves to see if we are in the faith, to examine ourselves”. In fact, he says this with an exclamation point!

How sad it has been for me to see relatives falling away from the faith…those who claim to be Christian, yet do not even know what it means to live as one. Friends, just go to the Bible—all the answers we need for godly living are in there. Don’t chase after the things of this world, or ideas that seem new and interesting. Don’t follow the leader just because he or she is enthusiastic about what he/she teaches—compare it with the Bible! We are warned about this by God’s Word—in the final days these things will come… We don’t know when those days are to be…but the point is that we are to be prepared for it, and to do so, we should TEST OURSELVES to see if we are in the faith! Christ is the ONLY way, the ONLY truth, and the ONLY life. No one will go to Heaven without Him. Sorry to say, but it’s true. I hope you know that. Test yourself friend…we love you.

Food for thought...

Ever wondered where our worth as humans comes from? Or even what is our worth? Are we of more value to God than animals? Some say we are no different than any other animal on earth...we're just more "developed" (another term for this is EVOLVED). Really? What does this say about the dignity of human worth, as well as to our Creator? Wow... Here's a good quote from R.C. Sproul:

“Man’s dignity rests in God who assigns an inestimable worth to every person. Man’s origin is not an accident, but a profoundly intelligent act by One who has eternal value; by One who stamps His own image on each person. God creates men and moves heaven and earth to redeem them when they fall. Our origin is in creation and our destiny is for redemption. Between these points every human heartbeat has value.”
(R.C. Sproul, In Search of Dignity, p. 94).

My Grandpa Bacheller

Sunday night we found out my grandfather passed away, on my dad’s side. My dad has come back from Brazil for the funeral and to spend time with Gma and the rest of the family, and I’ll (Ben) be flying up to NY Wednesday to spend through Saturday. Please pray that we can all grieve, but also celebrate my grandfather’s life. I’m glad I can visit the family and spend some time with them, as well as my dad. From what I hear, I’ll be a pall-bearer with the other grandsons. Thank you for your prayers,
Ben.

Preview of things to come?

This was at the orphanage in Brazil this past year, in June probably, of 2005. Oh how we miss those kids... Posted by Picasa
